He said that he had stopped eating. I would have a few bites of food, and it would go to my mouth.

In my youth, I would go three months without eating, then lose 60 to 70 pounds. Then, I would reward myself with a six-pack of bud or some other reward and return to my old ways.

This time, I wanted to take it slow, move, and exercise. I am reaching an age where I cannot afford to be still, giving me the energy to work.

Goodman lost 100 pounds. He hasn’t gained any weight since returning to his role of Dan Conner in 2018. He credits his 12-step philosophy with keeping him on the right track.

He explained to Travers that he thinks he is trying to fill a void that cannot be filled without goodness or some form of spirituality, not to mention religion.

Instead of trying to fill it with food or booze, you acknowledge it. It’s too small to fill, so you accept it and move on.”
